From Monday 19 – Friday 23 June 2017 Lower School students in years 7-9 will be taking part in our first official Arts Week. We will be kicking off with a trip to the Design Museum in London where students will be taking part in the Designer Maker User workshop which is the companion to the Design Museum’s permanent gallery.
Using refreshed handling collections of contemporary design objects, students will interact with key designs through experiential learning. Workshops support students to gain new perspectives on the role of designers and the impact of design in everyday life.
The week will culminate in a two day residential trip to Paris. As well as the obligatory trips to the Eiffel Tower and Louvre Palace we will be looking further into modern and contemporary Art & Design with visits to the Centre Pompidou, Musée d’Art Moderne and The Louis Vuitton Foundation. On return to College, students will continue with their own work inspired by their trip to Paris and design sculptural pieces that will be exhibited at the Summer Festival in June.
